Richard Belzer left “Law & Order” and Hollywood for a quiet life in the French countryside. He lived with his wife, Harlee McBride, and their four dogs in a beautiful home surrounded by nature. According to the actor, his dogs prolonged his life.

Before Richard Belzer passed away at age 78 in February 2023, he found success in the entertainment industry as a comedian and actor, most recognized for his roles in “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” and “Homicide: Life on the Street.”

Belzer already battled several issues leading up to his demise. According to his good friend, Bill Scheft, his last words included a lot of joking curses. Belzer passed away in his Bozouls, France, residence.

Jean-Luc Calmelly, the mayor of their small village, paid tribute to the actor, calling him famous amongst residents of the area, not only for his celebrity status but also for his friendliness and kindness towards others.

Years before his passing, Belzer bid farewell to his famous character, Detective John Munch” on “SVU.” Warren Leight, the show’s executive producer, admitted to finding difficulty in Belzer’s departure. He said:

“In the real world, which we try very hard to simulate, NYPD has mandatory retirement before your 63rd birthday, and we were trying to figure out how to deal with it. [NYPD does it] because you can’t have 65-year-old guys running after guys.”

Although Belzer’s character had to leave the police department, he joined the D.A.’s office as an investigator. The actor’s 21 years as Munch still had an open ending in a different field.

Similarly, “Homicide: Life in the Street” executive producer Barry Levinson also liked how Belzer portrayed the character. Notably, he was fond of the rhythm of the way Belzer spoke.

Belzer, born on August 4, 1944, in Connecticut, spent the last few years living in the beautiful countryside in France with his wife, Harlee McBride.
Munch first debuted on “Homicide: Life in the Street” in 1993. When the show was canceled, Belzer and his wife celebrated with champagne as he played the role for seven years. Little did they know that his character would live on for many more.

The famous character appeared in the original “Law & Order.” Belzer reprised his role on “Law & Order: Trial by Jury,” “Arrested Development,” “The X-Files,” “The Beat,” “The Wire,” “30 Rock,” and “Sesame Street.”

Fortunately, Belzer grew fond of his on-screen persona. “He is very close to how I used to be. It is very pleasing and luxurious to have a character just like you,” Bezler said. His last appearance on “Law & Order: SVU” was in 2016.

At the time of his passing, the official “Law & Order” Twitter page paid tribute to Richard Belzer with a post that mourned his loss and celebrated his memory. The post read:

“Anyone who had the pleasure of watching Richard Belzer portray Det. John Munch will never forget how much he inhabited that beloved character to make it his own.”

Belzer, born on August 4, 1944, in Connecticut, spent the last few years living in the beautiful countryside in France with his wife, Harlee McBride.

He and his wife relocated to France after wrestler Hulk Hogan choked Beltzer during a talk show in 1985. While the scene was only for a stunt, Beltzer passed out and ended up in stitches.
McBride is also an actress and producer, born November 20, 1948. Like her husband, she also has several on-screen credits. In the ’90s, McBride shared the screen with her husband as she appeared as Dr. Alyssa Dyer in 22 episodes of “Homicide: Life on the Street.”

Her other on-screen appearances include “Young Lady Chatterley,” “Young Lady Chatterley II,” “Raid on Entebbe,” “Days of Our Lives,” “Most Wanted,” and “The Rockford Files.”

Beltzer tied the knot with McBride in 1985, although he had been married twice. From 1996 to 1972, Beltzer was wed to Gail Susan Ross. Following their divorce, he married Dalia Gnoch in 1976 and separated in 1978. Similarly, McBride was once married to actor Garth Benton.

Although Beltzer never had biological children, he became a father figure to McBride’s kids, Jessica Erin Benton and Shannon Bree Benton.

He and his wife relocated to France after wrestler Hulk Hogan choked Beltzer during a talk show in 1985. While the scene was only for a stunt, Beltzer passed out and ended up in stitches.

“He came very close to killing me. I was told by a sports medicine expert that if I had fallen a few inches either way, I could have been crippled for life; I could have been dead,” Belzer said. He eventually sued the WWF star and received a sum of money that went to their home in France.

Belzer and McBride’s estate was located in a small village in Bozouls with an estimated 3,000 residents as of 2013. They received a residence permit in 2021 and officially called the house their permanent home.

Despite the language barrier, Belzer tried his best to show camaraderie amongst his neighbors and would often talk to the locals. According to those who knew them, he and his wife were well-integrated into the community.

He and McBride enjoy quality time together with their four adorable dogs, which are like their children. His posts show that the couple’s fur babies are often included in their activities.

The couple’s gorgeous country house sits on a parcel of land in the heart of Roquefort cheese country and is surrounded by beautiful greenery. It was located near the village’s 12th-century Sainte Fauste Church.

Belzer has shared snippets of his home several times, leaving fans in awe of its serene beauty. The beautiful church was also sometimes seen in the background of his home photos.

Several trees, vines, and colorful flowers are outside Belzer’s home, including roses. His wife is particularly fond of the nature that surrounds them, as she enjoys caring for her plants. In one of his tweets, Belzer revealed that McBride gardens even during winter. His post came with a photo of his wife in action.

The couple also keeps a large pile of wood chunks for the cold days and nights. The actor previously shared a picture of their neatly stored stock, writing, “Harlee’s wood pile… I helped (A little)!”

Besides the home itself, it is the company that keeps Belzer happy. He and McBride enjoy quality time together with their four adorable dogs, which are like their children. His posts show that the couple’s fur babies are often included in their activities.

One of their ways to relax is by lounging in their plunge pool while enjoying a cold glass of wine. Around them were the cute dogs enjoying what Belzer called a “pool party.”

One of his fur babies was a poodle-fox terrier mix named Bebe, who frequented red-carpet events with the actor. In 2007, he joined his fur dad at the screening of “Look.”
When it comes to kitchen work, McBride takes charge of the cooking. “The master at work,” Belzer captioned one of his photos of his wife in the kitchen.

The pair also host dinners in their home, as seen in a beautiful dinner table setup with several plates for guests. Regardless of the activity, Belzer and McBride enjoy each moment spent together

Dogs Prolonged His Life
Although Belzer never had children of his own, he had four dogs whom he adored like kids. One of his fur babies was a poodle-fox terrier mix named Bebe, who frequented red-carpet events with the actor. In 2007, he joined his fur dad at the screening of “Look.”

However, the manager informed the actor during the event that Bebe was not allowed in the venue. Although Bebe was harmless and a constant companion, he was still not allowed and had to sit in the car with Belzer’s driver.

Bebe was also known amongst “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” cast and crew members as she often joined taping.

“He has total freedom on the set,” Belzer said. “We’ll all be working hard, and then he’ll walk by, and everyone will be like, ‘Aw, Bebe!’ All these big tough guys get mushy around him. He can change the moods of 120 people on set.”

Belzer also credits Bebe for his long life. While he admitted that he had a temper, his emotions were in control because his pooch sensed it and calmed him down. Because of Bebe, he doesn’t blow up as much as he used to.

Belzer seemed to have a good relationship with his stepdaughters, Jessica and Bree. The girls were in France to bid farewell to the actor during his final days.
Bebe was an abused and abandoned pup when Belzer took him in. Their similar backgrounds became a way for them to connect, but beyond their familiar story, Bebe’s personality and intelligence won Belzer’s heart.

Besides Bebe, Belzer and McBride’s three other dog children are Tulip, Django, and Lacey, all much bigger than Bebe.

Belzer advocated for animal welfare and supported several non-profit organizations, including the North Shore Animal League. He encouraged others to endorse the no-kill rescue foundation and adopt dogs. Belzer also supported organizations concerned about gun control and violence.

Aside from his pups, Belzer seemed to have a good relationship with his stepdaughters, Jessica and Bree. The girls were in France to bid farewell to the actor during his final days.

Growing up, Belzer did not have an average family. His interest in comedy resulted from an abusive childhood with a mother who physically harmed him and his brother. According to Belzer, his mother always had a reason to lay a hand on them but would be in a better mood if he made her laugh.

While his jokes were funny to many, they often got him in trouble at school. He ended his college story at Massachusetts’ Dean Junior College with an expulsion after he organized protests within the school’s vicinity.

Belzer was an author and published several books, such as “How to Be a Stand-Up Comic,” “UFOs, JFK, and Elvis: Conspiracies You Don’t Have to Be Crazy to Believe,” and “I Am Nat a Cop!: A Novel.”
Following his education, Belzer worked several jobs and eventually became a journalist for The Bridgeport Post newspaper. It was only after a series of tragedies that he took a risk with a comedy career.

Three years after his mom succumbed to cancer, his father, Charles, tried to take his own life. While Belzer was able to save him, Charles succeeded a year later. Sadly, Belzer’s brother also saw the same fate in 2014 after his wife passed away.

Belzer’s first opportunity in the field was at a Channel One East Village comedy troupe. Eventually, Belzer landed roles in a parody of police dramas. Soon, he performed stand-up comedy at New York clubs, including the Improv, Pips, and Catch a Rising Star.

He also shared the stage with John Belushi, Bill Murray, and Gilda Radner on the “National Lampoon Radio Hour.” When “Saturday Night Live” went on-air, he was invited to be the warm-up comedian.

“They asked me to do some sketches and do the warm-ups. I just kind of did what I did in nightclubs,” he said. I tried to improvise and ad-lib as much as I could. And it was fascinating doing that in a television studio and not in a nightclub.”

Belzer appeared in other shows after “Saturday Night Live,” but his role as Munch changed his career forever. Because of Munch, he became a fixture on television and known worldwide. The role also opened several opportunities for the actor.

Besides acting, Belzer was an author and published several books, such as “How to Be a Stand-Up Comic,” “UFOs, JFK, and Elvis: Conspiracies You Don’t Have to Be Crazy to Believe,” and “I Am Nat a Cop!: A Novel.” He left a legacy in this world that many will undoubtedly remember.

Richard Gere, one the stars of the renowned film “Pretty Woman” celebrated five years of marriage with his third wife, Alejandra Silva.

She posted a picture from their beach trip with their three children and said the family trip was to celebrate Mother’s Day and their wedding anniversary.

She admitted they went to “paradise.” In another post, she shared a family picture of them at the beach during sunset and captioned it, “For many more years. Happy anniversary my love.”

The couple is happy together, and Silva clarified that she was not bothered by the 33-year age gap between her and Gere.

How Did Richard Gere Meet His Wife?

Gere and his wife first met when Silva was still a little girl, but they ran into each other again at a hotel she managed, Treville Hotel, in Positano, Italy.

A mutual friend re-introduced them, and the couple said they felt a strong connection. Silva was apprehensive about going out with Gere, but he sent her flowers and wrote her songs until she agreed.

Silva believed that she and Gere were meant to be because of the undeniable connection they shared. Although the questions about the age difference were looming in her head, the “karmic energy” between them made them all disappear.

However, things were challenging initially since their relationship started long distance. Silva revealed that they only saw each other when their children were with their ex-partners, but not more than 20 days would go by before they were together again.

Looking back at how much effort Gere put into their relationship, Silva felt like the luckiest woman alive. She was wooed by the daily songs her husband wrote her and the beautiful flowers he sent to earn her love.

Silva, an activist, could not stop blushing over her husband. She described him as “the most humble, sensitive, affectionate, attentive, funny, generous man I’ve ever met.” To top it off, Silva said Gere asked her each morning what he could do to make her happy.

As one can already imagine, the proposal was also very romantic. The activist did not share many details about it, but it was an intimate moment between them at the most beautiful hotel in the South of France. “I get emotional just remembering it,” she said.

The couple tied the knot in 2018 and made a rather unexpected entrance to their wedding in a tuk-tuk. Silva said Gere was driving, but seeing the shock on their guest’s faces was funny.

The activist remembered when Gere saw in her dress and said, “I was the most spectacular woman he had ever seen.” Silva was nervous and overwhelmed and told him how much she loved him.

The couple ensured their children were also involved in the ceremony, and they had the big job of being ring bearers. They had a beautiful and emotional ceremony they will both cherish forever.

Silva was not the only that could not stop gushing about her partner. Gere also expressed, “I am the happiest man in the universe.”

The actor praised his wife for how beautiful, sensitive, and forgiving she was. On top of it all, he said she was a good cook that made the best salads. Most importantly, he loved how much of a devoted mother Silva was to their children.

Almost two decades after Gere welcomed his first child with ex-wife Carey Lowell, he and Silva had a son in 2019. The activist also has a son, Albert, from her previous marriage. In 2020, the 73-year-old actor and his 40-year-old wife welcomed a second son.

How Did Richard Gere Change His Wife’s Life?

Silva runs an organization called Rais Fundacion, and it is committed to helping eradicate homelessness in Spain. The activist said she lived like a homeless person for a while to understand the experience truly. This was her way of expressing how much she cared about her mission with her foundation.

But her deep love for being a committed humanitarian came from her husband’s influence. Silva said before she and Gere tied the knot, she converted to Buddhism and moved to New York.

Buddhism changed her life and made her a better and more aware person. It was also a spiritual experience that brought her and her husband closer. She reiterated, “I’ll be eternally grateful to him. No doubt about it, thanks to Buddhism, my life has changed.”

Speaking on the 33-year age gap, Silva said she could not ignore the love she and Gere shared. But above all else, her husband promised her the happiest 20 years of her life, which was an offer she could not refuse.

She also revealed that Gere was more energetic than she was, “I find it hard to keep up with him,” she joked. What she loves the most is her husband’s happiness and the unsaid assurance of how much they love each other.

Therefore, the age gap does not matter because Gere has all the qualities she wants in a man, and with their spiritual connection and their love for people, her marriage is a dream come true. “It’s the sweetest, most romantic dream I’ve ever had. That’s why I’ve decided to stay in it!” she gushed.

Anderson Cooper and his ex-boyfriend, Benjamin Maisani, are co-parenting two children who live with the journalist. The trio lives in a fire station that he converted to accommodate the offspring.

On February 10, 2022, Anderson Cooper announced the birth of his second child on the “Anderson Cooper 360” program. The CNN anchor shares the boy with his former longtime partner and best friend, Benjamin Maisani.

Benjamin is a businessman who decided to open his bar, “Eastern Bloc,” after working at one. He built relationships with celebrities at his establishment, and one of these people was Anderson.

The journalist used to frequent the bar, and that’s probably where the pair fell in love. According to Wealthy Persons, Benjamin’s net worth was estimated at around eight million dollars; in his announcement about his new son, Anderson introduced him by stating:

“This is Sebastian Luke Maisani-Cooper… 6.8 pounds at birth, healthy and happy [with] occasional [adorable] hiccups. He mostly sleeps, eats and poops, but already seems wise and thoughtful.”

The co-parent also took the time to thank the nurses and doctors who helped bring the little boy into the world. Anderson also showed gratitude to the surrogate who carried his second son.

He thanked the woman and her family for the sacrifices they made and the love they gave Sebastian over the past year. It wasn’t the first time the television personality announced the birth of his children on-air.

In April 2020, he took a moment on CNN to reveal the birth of his first son, Wyatt Morgan Cooper. On February 25, 2022, Anderson was interviewed on “Live with Kelly and Ryan,” where he updated viewers about how Wyatt was bonding with Sebastian, saying:

“They seem to be getting along really well. I mean, ‘Getting along well’ — Sebastian sleeps. He can’t say Sebastian yet, he calls him Luke. So every morning he wants to go say ‘Good morning, Luke.’”

After Sebastian’s birth, Anderson took three weeks off to be with his newborn son by taking paternity leave. Speaking with Ryan Seacrest and Kelly Ripa before taking the break, he shared how he was enjoying the time with his boys, noting:

“It’s great to be able to come home and decompress.”

The father of two also revealed the nightly bonding routine he had with Wyatt saying, “And every night to be able to feed Wyatt and give him his milk, he falls asleep on my chest, and there’s nothing better.”

Anderson and the boys also have a morning routine. They go to the diner every morning, and Wyatt and Sebastian love to take a swim. The proud parent enjoys preparing his sons for their afternoon nap by sitting and reading to them until they fall asleep in his arms.

Wyatt and Sebastian also play well together and even use some of their famous dad’s old toys — that he used to play with his brother. Anderson said seeing her sons’ relationship with each other is “incredible” to witness.

Benjamin, a property and nightclub owner, started co-parenting with Anderson when Wyatt was born. The news anchor explained that he would co-parent with his ex even though they weren’t dating anymore, adding, “We’re a family.”

He revealed in an interview that their co-parenting relationship is effortless. When he goes to work at night, Benjamin takes over by looking after the kids. They both wake up right before the boys do, and get them their milk, then spend the first few hours of the day with them. According to Anderson, Benjamin speaks French with their sons.

Anderson made it clear that little Sebastian would be brought up by him and Benjamin, saying, “We’re co-parents. We’re a family.” Benjamin was already legally adopting their first child, who calls him “papa.”

The older boy gave the television personality the title of “daddy.” When the adoption is finalized, Wyatt’s last name will be changed to incorporate both parents,’ Maisani-Cooper, like Sebastian’s.

In a September 2023 interview, the 56-year-old famed broadcaster gushed about being a father, saying, “This is the best time in my life. There is no doubt about it.”

Anderson’s Relationship & Co-parenting with Benjamin Maisani

Anderson and Benjamin started seeing each other in 2009, went public with the relationship in 2015, and revealed they’d broken up in 2018. The couple might not be in a relationship before, but they were so well bonded that the star revealed:

“Maisani is going to be a co-parent to Wyatt even though we’re not together anymore. He’s my family, and I want him to be Wyatt’s family as well.”

In September 2021, Anderson got candid about the strange co-parenting arrangement between him and his ex. He confessed that it worked for them and Wyatt, noting:

“It’s probably an unusual setup, but I knew he would be a great dad, and he is. We’re exes, but we’re family to each other, and we love each other as family and as co-parents.”

The author regularly shares updates on his older son and once revealed how frustrated he’d missed Wyatt’s first steps. However, Benjamin rarely updates but once said his ex changed when Wyatt was born, and Anderson explained their co-parenting arrangement, stating:

“I’ve always believed that if you’ve been with somebody and that ends, in terms of an intimate relationship, if you love somebody, there’s no reason why that love shouldn’t continue.”

In February 2021, during a “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” interview, Anderson confessed to host Ellen DeGeneres that he and Benjamin once wanted different things to start a family. The star elaborated:

“It’s interesting, because he wasn’t really sure he wanted to have a kid—which is one of the reasons we probably broke up—but then, he came around to the idea. Now he is such a great parent.”

Inside Anderson’s Firehouse, Where He Lives with His Kids

On June 9, 2020, Anderson gave People a tour of the home that he converted from a fire station. Viewers got to see what Wyatt’s nursery looked like with its central theme, blue, featuring throughout the space.

The nursery was still in progress, and some photos hadn’t been hung up yet. One painting, done by Anderson’s late mother, Gloria Vanderbilt, of herself and the star’s late father, who Wyatt was named after.

Another image showed Anderson’s handprint when he was a child. One corner of the room had lots of stuffed animals that once belonged to the doting dad, while the blue wallpaper had a beetle design, and a paper mache cupid was hung up above the baby’s white crib.

Anderson explained that he wanted all the items in his son’s room to have personal history and significance. A changing area and a picture of Benjamin and his sister when they were younger were added to the room.

Anderson bought the 8,240 square feet Greenwich Village, New York firehouse in September 2010 for $4.3 million. It had its original brass fire poles, dry hoses, spiral staircases, and walls with murals showing off the fire station’s history.

In 2015, David Beckham and Kevin Hart shot an H&M campaign in Anderson’s [Cooper] home.
In September 2018, the “60 Minutes” correspondent indirectly showed his house off to The Hollywood Reporter while spending three days with the publication. The star lived with Lilly, his Welsh springer spaniel, and he and Benjamin had broken up earlier that year.

The home’s kitchen boasts an island. Anderson spent years restoring it and installed an elevator while the second floor has a salon with taxidermy and Old Master paintings plus hand-painted signs that he collected during trips to Cuba and Africa.

His living room features a side table adorned with a Victorian calendar that he found in his mother’s bedroom. It has the date July 22, 1988, which is the day his brother, Carter Cooper, died by suicide at 23 in their mom’s apartment. Gloria relocated several times after her son died and took along the calendar with her. Anderson once explained that he did not want to let go of everything after he got rid of her apartment following her death.

Including his great-great-grandfather’s Civil War commissioning notice, the star’s personal artifacts are also featured in the home. A photo by his late friend, Tim Hetherington, shows a younger Anderson in Afghanistan.

Another item that stood out in his home was an 18th-century Italian marble, Memento Mori. The firehouse, built in 1906, was renovated by architect Cary Tamarkin with the 20th-century Beaux-Arts building’s interiors.

In 2015, David Beckham and Kevin Hart shot an H&M campaign in Anderson’s home. The advert allowed fans to view Anderson’s beautiful home showing off its living room, gym, roof terrace, and one of his bedrooms.

In addition to losing his mom in 2019 at age 95, and his brother, Anderson’s dad also died in 1978 from a heart attack. After avoiding the grieving process for many years, he finally decided to face it head-on on his podcast, “All There Is With Anderson Cooper,” and has interviewed actress Molly Shannon, who opened up about her own grief. “It has certainly made me feel less alone,” Anderson said of his podcast.

Richardson posted several snapshots of the big day, showing her children and other members of the family gathered to celebrate her daughter, Roxanne Baker’s wedding. The images showed Richardson holding a baby and planting a kiss on the little one’s forehead. There were also snaps of her kids sharing a moment.

While she worked on “Home Improvement” for eight years, Richardson also tried to balance family life.

The actress captioned the images by writing about how the family had to wait through three years of the COVID-19 pandemic and her daughter’s indecision about venues to have the wedding. Finally, they found the perfect site for the ceremony in the mountains of Ojai, where they spent a weekend celebrating the happy new couple.

Besides her daughter, Richardson also has two sons. Roxanne has a twin brother, Joseph Castle Baker, who works as a stand-up comedian, writer, and actor. Joe has made numerous comedy skits, including one about him coming out as gay to his parents. The twins have an older brother, Henry Baker, who is also married.

In the past, Richardson has been open about the choices she has made in life and the things she would regret when she eventually looked back on her life. Many would think the actress regretted her choice to stop working on “Home Improvement,” turning down a massive contract. She opened up about why she stepped down.

Why Did Patricia Richardson Reject Millions?

Although “Home Improvement” made her career a success, the show also took its toll on Richardson’s personal life. She has been open about her marital struggles, saying she initially never trusted herself to be married. Nonetheless, she tied the knot with Ray Baker, and the pair shared many happy years.

These days, Richardson is still a devoted mother and grandmother.

While she worked on “Home Improvement” for eight years, Richardson also tried to balance family life. She had three children to raise, a husband who wanted her to be home more, and parents to take care of. For a while, the actress was the only caretaker for her parents, who had increasingly bad health.

Nonetheless, she kept working for close to a decade. During the course of her career, she also faced a divorce from her long-time husband. Although Baker encouraged her to work on “Home Improvement” at first, the show started taking up all her time, and after a while, the pair couldn’t work out their differences.

Richardson recalled how she would often turn down doing charity events because she never had time to spend with her children. Eventually, Baker filed for divorce, making Richardson a single mother. After the separation, she realized she was the only one around to look after her kids, so she had to make a choice.

Besides being an actress on the show, Richardson also wrote. The actress helped the show’s creators make her character seem as real and relatable as possible. But she couldn’t keep working so many hours and be a good mom to her children, so she made the difficult choice to step down from the show.

Richardson refused to work on “Home Improvement’s” ninth year, turning down a $30 million deal in the process. She also turned down another project that won 30 Emmys. Despite this, the actress is glad she chose her family over her career, recalling, “I was away from them more than I wanted and felt I missed so many things.”

Does Patricia Richardson Have Any Regrets?

Giving up a role like the one she had would leave many people looking back and wondering how their life would have been had they decided to accept the offer. Although Richardson does think back about some of the things she missed out on because she chose her family over her career, the actress believes she made the best choice.

She opened up about the time before she decided to quit “Home Improvement,” recalling how she had to take care of her mother and father, who were seriously ill in their last few years. With her sister’s help, Richardson took care of her parents while working on “West Wing,” and by the time she finished, they had both passed away.

Getting through “Home Improvement” proved challenging even though she enjoyed it. Richardson is proud of the fact that she worked hard to make a success of her career, but she’s glad to have stepped down when she did. The actress also noted that she had been away from her kids for so long that she had to work on her parenting skills again.

These days, Richardson is still a devoted mother and grandmother. She often shares snapshots of herself with her family. On May 7, 2023, she shared an image of her with her grandchild. In the caption, she wrote, “Happy Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers and grandmothers today!”

Although Richardson gave up her role in “Home Improvement,” she’s living a happy life as a grandmother. She shared an image of her grandson and granddaughter playing in their yard, showing the young boy putting his arms around her granddaughter in a playful gesture. The proud granny wrote, “Grandson learning about unwelcome hugging.”

Moving to another city was the reason for a couple to buy their own place. Due to the limited budget, they chose a modest one-room flat with an area of 34 square metres. The new owners did not like the old interior, so they turned to designers to create a unique and comfortable space.

Entrance hall

The walls in the hallway were levelled and painted with light moisture-resistant paint. The floor was laid with porcelain stoneware under marble. At the entrance there are decorative wooden panels with hooks for clothes. Next to it, a wall-mounted console with a mirror and a turquoise pouffe were installed. A spacious storage cabinet with turquoise doors was placed between the kitchen and the room.

Kitchen

In the kitchen, the floor is also laid with porcelain tiles. A refrigerator is installed at the entrance, and behind it there is a dining area with a round table and a cosy sofa. Behind the sofa is an accent wall with a mural and voluminous panels.

Opposite is a corner kitchen set in green and wooden colours, and the apron is tiled in blue-green.

Room

The living room, located at the entrance to the room, has blue coloured walls and laminate flooring. A storage system with a TV is located to the left of the entrance. Opposite is a large grey sofa and a slatted partition dividing the space into zones.

Behind the partition is a sleeping area with a double bed, a bedside table, a TV and a compact dressing table. On the wall behind the bed, a mural with three-dimensional panels reappeared. A bar counter was installed on the balcony.

Bathroom and WC

For the design of the bathroom and the toilet they chose classic white, black rectangular tiles and tiles with a geometric pattern.

The washing machine is conveniently located opposite the sink.

A poor grandson who was shoveling his late granny’s beloved garden unearthed a mysterious jar buried in the soil. He found dozens more and followed the hints to a startling encounter in the lawyer’s office.

What happens when you fail to respect the last wishes of your late elders? And what if they had secretly planned or “buried” a jolting surprise for you “only if” you fulfill that wish?

Georgetown brothers Charlie and Kevin were torn between such a wish. After their granny Josephine died, they got her last letter stating they would get her beloved garden as an inheritance. Her main condition was that they care for her garden and ensure it produced rich fruits and vegetables throughout all seasons.

While 16-year-old Charlie happily accepted the offer, his older brother Kevin, 18, was furious with his granny for leaving them a small garden and nothing else…

“Just a garden?” Kevin fumed. “Who wants to till the soil of this piece of useless land? I thought she’d bequeath her house. Silly old lady! I hate her!”

“What was that noise?” he exclaimed after hearing a crackling sound of glass. He shoveled again and realized it was coming from the soil.

“But Kevin, granny loved this garden, and maybe she wants us to cherish her last wish,” said Charlie, hurt by his brother’s fury.

“Last wish, my foot. Why didn’t she take it to the grave with her? I’m not getting my hands and legs dirty in this mud. Suit yourself with your silly old granny’s wish, loser.”

The furious sibling walked away, hurling his late granny Josephine’s letter at Charlie’s face. “And don’t you come to me begging for money. You’ll make a fortune by selling those rotten potatoes and tomatoes!” Kevin mocked him and stormed out of the garden.

Charlie was upset, but he decided to honor his late granny’s wish. He happily accepted her offer and promised to return the next day with gardening tools to get started.

The following morning, Charlie rolled up his sleeves and began watering the garden. “Granny maintained it so well,” he observed. “Just some pruning, and I’ll start transplanting the bushes.”

In her letter, Josephine had explicitly asked her grandsons to transplant the rose bushes to new spots. The soil was moist, so Charlie thought it would make his job easy. He took a shovel and spaded the area around the first rose bush with all the force he could muster.

“What was that noise?” he exclaimed after hearing a crackling sound of glass. He shoveled again and realized it was coming from the soil.

Charlie grabbed his small handheld shovel and began digging. Moments later, he sat back in surprise after finding a broken glass jar with a note. “A note? Is it from grandma?” he muttered and carefully took the letter out.

“Thank you, boys, for not forgetting me. I’m not so heartless as to leave you with only tomatoes and cucumbers!” read the first line. “Don’t stop digging near the rose bushes because you have many more ‘treasures’ to dig out, 24 to be exact! I just needed to make sure you honored my memory!”

“23 more glass jars buried in the garden? What, no way?!” Charlie exclaimed and began looking around for more rose bushes. He found 23 rose bushes in 23 different spots in the garden.

Exhausted and panting, Charlie excavated 22 jars, each stashed with cash and coins. He was tired, and it was scorching hot, but he was determined to find the last jar and dug the last rose bush. To his dismay, there was no jar there.

“Where is the last one?” he mumbled, looking around to see if he had missed anything

The garden was a mess. Besides not finding the 24th jar, Charlie was exhausted thinking about the long work he had to do by replanting all the bushes in their new spots.

He looked up at the sky and promised his granny he would plant them the next day. “I promise, granny, but before that, I have to find the last jar. It’s not here. Where is it?” he asked and marched across the garden for clues.

That’s when he remembered his granny’s favorite plant, a rosemary bush on the farther end of the garden, just below her bedroom window. Granny Josephine loved the herb’s fragrance and had always wanted it to be near her bedroom window to enjoy its scent.

“That must be it!” Charlie shouted in joy. He walked over to the spot with the rosemary bush and began to dig. His instincts proved right when he heard the clinking of glass.

Charlie carefully dug out the jar but was a little taken aback. There was no money in it, but it was stashed with a scroll.

Curious, the grandson opened the jar and found a document, to his surprise. It mentioned that whoever had this document would have to contact the enclosed number for further details.

Charlie found a phone number with a certain “Alex Johnson” mentioned below it. He reached out to the person and was immediately called to the lawyer’s office the next day.

“Oh, you must be Mrs. Josephine Parker’s grandson,” Alex said, handing out a document to the boy. “I was doubtful when she told me that her grandsons would do anything to honor her wish. But I am surprised that only one showed up!”

As it turned out, it was the late granny’s second part of the will. According to it, the grandson who possessed the first part of the document would get the house and a family heirloom.

“A family heirloom?” a surprised Charlie asked. “She never told me anything about it.”

The lawyer smiled and gave him a jewelry box. Charlie was stunned when he opened it and found a stone-studded ring and a few pieces of expensive jewelry with a note.

“It belonged to my grandma, my mother, and me. Now, it belongs to you. I hope you keep it to remember me by. Love, Granny Josephine.”

Charlie shed tears of joy. Although he had to wait for two more years until he turned 18 to claim the inheritance, he was happy and thanked his granny for everything she left him.

Two years later, on his 18th birthday, Charlie became the legal heir to his late granny’s house and heirloom. He refurbished the house with the $22K he inherited and moved in after finishing school.

In these two years, his older brother Kevin tried his best to claim the legacy and throw his brother out. But his wicked efforts turned futile, and all he got was disappointment for not honoring his late granny’s wish.

Meanwhile, Charlie continued to work hard in his Granny Jospehine’s garden. He bought another piece of land near it and cultivated exotic fruits and flowers. Ultimately, he started exporting fresh garden produce to other states and became an aspiring businessman.

Charlie, a once-poor lad, now owned several acres of agricultural land and a deluxe house in town. Regardless of his newfound riches, the humble grandson continued to cherish his late granny’s wish. He also ensured her garden always bloomed with beautiful flowers, rich fruits, and vegetables throughout the year!
