photographer at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s 2018 wedding has slammed the event as “miserable” and a “disaster” six years after the Sussexes’ nuptials.

Harry tied the knot with the Suits alum in St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle on May 19, 2018, in front of 600 guests and a global TV audience estimated at 1.9 billion viewers.

Highlights

  • Photographer Arthur Edwards called Harry and Meghan’s wedding “miserable” and “a disaster.”
  • Harry and Meghan’s attempt to avoid the press made the photographer’s job difficult.
  • Arthur said the couple deliberately turned away during their carriage ride.

Arthur Edwards, who has been photographing the royal family since 1977, said the couple made his job really difficult and did everything they could to avoid the press.

“I hated the day. The day was a miserable day,” the experienced photographer revealed during an interview with The Sun.

“It was the worst royal engagement I ever did. Because Harry was determined to keep the newspapers away from it as much as possible,” alleged the 83-year-old.

Arthur reportedly covered royal weddings in the past, such as Prince William and Princess Catherine’s nuptials in 2011 and the wedding of Prince Edward and Sophie Wessex in 1999.

On that occasion, trying to capture a good photograph of the newlyweds was “hopeless.”

“Harry was determined to keep the newspapers away from it as much as possible,” alleged the 83-year-old

The photographer said the couple turned away when they rode past him in their carriage while greeting the crowd outside, preventing him from getting a good angle for his pictures.

“And then the carriage shot, where they went past me in the carriage, they looked the other way,” he recalled. “So, for me, it was a disaster.”

When the journalist asked whether the Sussexes’ behavior had been “deliberate” to make him feel “unwelcome,” Arthur responded, “I felt so. It wasn’t just me. In many ways, [the press] were badly treated.”

“Harry was angry at us about things said about Meghan. Some of the things were pretty harsh. Some were pretty unfair.

“He was angry, and I felt we were punished for that.”

Two years after the wedding, Harry and Meghan would step down as senior working royals to move to Montecito, California.

The couple kept their Duke and Duchess of Sussex titles but are no longer addressed as his or her royal highness (HRH). Harry also gave up his military titles.

They are parents to two children: four-year-old Prince Archie and two-year-old Princess Lilibet.

Harry was very critical of the press in the Netflix documentary Harry & Meghan, which premiered in 2022.

In the six-episode series, the Duke of Sussex said there was an “unconscious bias” around race within Buckingham Palace, which especially affected his wife, and denounced the “planting of stories” by the media.

“I feel as though being part of this family, it is my duty to uncover this exploitation and bribery that happens within our media,” Harry said in the first episode. “There’s leaking, but there’s also planting of stories.”

“Harry was angry at us about things said about Meghan,” he explained

“It all comes down to control; it’s like, ‘This family is ours to exploit. Their trauma is our story and our story and our narrative to control.’”

Harry also slammed the role of the press in the death of his mother, Princess Diana, in August 1997.

“I think one of the hardest things to come to terms with is the fact that the people that chased her through into the tunnel were the same people that were taking photographs of her while she was still dying in the back seat of the car,” he said in the 2017 documentary Diana, 7 Days.

“William and I know that. We’ve been told that numerous times by people who know that was the case.

“Instead of helping, [they] were taking photographs of her dying on the back seat. And then those photographs made their way back to news desks in this country.”

“It was certainly a disaster for the British taxpayers,” wrote a Facebook user

Donald Sutherland, the acclaimed and prolific actor who starred in countless beloved films across his five-decade career, has died at 88.

Sutherland’s career ranged from early breakout roles in The Dirty Dozen and MASH to Oscar winners like Klute and Ordinary People, to his villainous role in the Hunger Games franchise.

The Emmy Award winner died at his home in Miami today following a long illness, his agency CAA confirmed to Deadline.

Sutherland was born July 17, 1935 in New Brunswick, Canada, later moving to Bridgewater, Nova Scotia. Throughout his childhood he battled a number of serious illnesses including polio, rheumatic fever and spinal meningitis.

He left Canada to pursue an interest in acting at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, and soon found work in TV and low-budget films.

He got a Hollywood breakthrough in the classic war film The Dirty Dozen, whose ensemble cast includes Lee Marvin, Charles Bronson, Ernest Borgnine and Jim Brown. It was the fifth highest grossing film of 1967.

After leaving London for Hollywood, Sutherland landed one of his most iconic roles in the 1970 anti-war comedy-drama MASH, originating the role of “Hawkeye” Pierce. MASH was one of the most successful films of the decade and is regarded as a classic.

Throughout the ’70s, Sutherland was a Hollywood leading man: his films include in the Oscar-winning Klute opposite Jane Fonda, the psychological horror Don’t Look Now, and the remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers. He also appeared in the hit comedy Animal House.

In 1980, he starred in Robert Redford’s Ordinary People, which won the Academy Award for Best Picture. Other major films include Backdraft, JFK, Six Degrees of Separation, The Italian Job and Pride and Prejudice.

Sutherland also had success on TV, winning an Emmy Award for the 1995 film Citizen X, and a Golden Globe for the television film Path to War.

A younger generation of moviegoers was introduced to Sutherland through The Hunger Games, the hit dystopian blockbuster series: Sutherland starred as the villainous President Coriolanus Snow.

Though he surprisingly never received an Oscar nomination, he received an Academy Honorary Award in 2017, “for a lifetime of indelible characters, rendered with unwavering truthfulness.” He also received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2011, and on the Canadian Walk of Fame in 2000.

Sutherland was married three times; he was married to actress Francine Racette for 52 years until his death. He was previously married to Lois May Hardwick and Shirley Douglas, and also had an affair with his Klute co-star Jane Fonda.

He had five children — including most famously his son Kiefer Sutherland, the actor best known for playing Jack Bauer in 24.

”I was too young to go watch my father’s films in the cinema,” Kiefer Sutherland told The Hollywood Reporter in 2017. “By the time I hit 20, VHS was available and a friend of my fathers had a lot of his films. In three days I watched Don’t Look Know, Klute, M*A*S*H, Kelly’s Heroes, 1900 and Fellini’s Casanova.”

“It was such a wide spectrum of characters, and I remember calling him up and I felt really badly that I grew up not knowing what a profoundly special actor he was, I felt horribly guilty of that. As a young actor, I had never known or seen another actor who’ve done characters so diverse either.”

Having long hair has always been a style choice for me. After seventy-two years, it is still the most beautiful and significant part of me. But yesterday, my daughter-in-law Betty burst into the room and interrupted my peaceful time in front of the mirror, where I was delicately combing through the silvery strands. Her remarks were more savage than a pair of shears.

“Long hair at your age makes you appear so pitiful, Mom. CUT IT SHORT and quit being an embarrassment; you’re no longer a young woman.

I could feel the hurtful reverberation of her remark as her tone shifted from respectful to contemptuous. The ebb and flow of Betty’s emotions has always made her an interesting character. Suddenly, she’s putting me down and then she’s gushing over me with little comments. I was taken aback by her icy demeanor this time.

A Personal Battle

Even after Betty left the room, the pain and bewilderment caused by her harsh comments remained. As I stared at my own mirror, I wondered if maybe she was correct. At my age, wouldn’t my long hair make me look foolish? By deceiving whom, exactly? But suddenly, I felt a flash of rebellion. At 72 years old, who was she to tell me how I should dress? Even total strangers have told me how much my hubby loves my hair.

The struggle within continued. I almost caved and chopped off my hair to appease her criticisms. However, a more robust aspect of me was adamant about not letting her words control my decisions. The decision to resist Betty’s passive-aggressive tactics was made in that very moment. If she wanted to play a game of “hot and cold,” I would demonstrate my full intensity.

A Strategy Develops

An chance arose a few days down the road. Betty boasted about her young appearance and perfect skin because she had always been self-conscious about her features. I was well-versed in exploiting her vulnerability to impart wisdom to her.

As usual, Betty’s habit of leaving her pricey skincare supplies in my bathroom irritated me. To make her skin feel oily and uncomfortable, I delicately substituted her night cream with an innocuous-smelling ointment. She wouldn’t be hurt, but she would be startled. A mixture of shame and contentment washed over me as I replaced the container. Rather than seeking vengeance, my motivation was to assert myself and establish limits.

Later that night, Betty entered the kitchen with a look that betrayed both perplexion and annoyance. “Mom, have you ever felt my cream?” I can’t stand the way it makes my skin feel and smell.

Innocently, I gazed at her. “Oh, Betty, I knew you were a fan of that one. It’s said to be packed with nutrients. Perhaps some people simply will not enjoy it.

She furrowed her brow, remained silent, and huffed her way back to her room. Reestablishing some respect for myself was a minor victory. A change in our dynamic was signaled by this seemingly insignificant gesture.

Rediscovering My Strength

What came next was a new experience. Instead of being as abrupt as usual, Betty seemed to be more careful when she was near me. My guess is that she realized I wouldn’t be as easy to get after this.

My hair remained long, flowing down my back like a silver waterfall, and I kept it that way. It served as a constant reminder of my strength and my refusal to be defeated by anyone who dared to undermine me.

My spouse came to sit with me in the garden one afternoon. With a smile on his face, he ran his fingers through my hair. You are stunning, Roselyn. Remain unchanged forever.

He confirmed what I had long suspected, and his words brought comfort to my heart. None of other people’s opinions could determine my value. At any age, I should have been able to feel gorgeous and confident.

A Fresh Perspective

Betty and I changed the way we interacted after the cream incident, but we never brought it up again. Her demeanor remained icy at times, but she exhibited a newfound admiration. She clearly saw that I wasn’t the type to back down from a challenge.

As time passed, I proudly embraced my long hair. The judgments of others, particularly ones as ephemeral as Betty’s, should never control my self-perception, I concluded. Each silver hair, wrinkle, and line on my face was something I had worked for. Stories of perseverance and fortitude abound in them, attesting to a life well-lived.

Winning or losing was of no consequence in the end. The goal was to show Betty that respect is mutual and to reassert my authority. Despite her attempts to embarrass me, she served as a powerful reminder of my own resilience. I came to the realization that this was the most important lesson of all.

Dolly has always tried her hardest to assist others, especially youngsters.

However, Dolly has provided an explanation for why she has never given birth to her own children. Scroll down to find out the reason why.

Dolly Parton Reveals The Reason She Never Had Children

She is absolutley adored by American fans. I’m sure we can all agree with that point.

Dolly is certainly a powerful woman.

Dolly was born in Locust Ridge, she was the fourth born child in a family of twelve. Her story is one from”rags-to-rhinestones”.

Many of her family members helped shape her music career especially her Uncle Bill Owens who got her into the music industry. Dolly’s talent was noticed.

Once she made her appearance on The Porter Wagoner Show, she began her rise to fame. Two of her popular songs “Jolene” and “Love Is Like A Butterfly,” were a huge hit.

In 1975 and ’76, she was given Female Country Singer Of The Year by the Country Music Association.

Dolly attempted to break into the pop market with “Here You Come Again” which worked.

That song grabbed her a Grammy Award along with a few more of the years.

The song that shot her to stardom was the ever popular “9 to 5” which is still a big hit. Dolly was recognized globally for her distinct smile and glamorous style.

Not only was she a singer but she also dipped into the film industry to try her hand at acting.

During the ’80s, Dolly appeared in Nine to Five, The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas and Steel Magnolias. This woman was certainly an icon.

She has constantly proved herself throughout her music and acting career. Here are some of her most iconic moments.

Dolly’s appearance attracted a lot of negative attention.

Dolly was defined by her makeup and cosmetic surgeries, saying this: “I’d like to think I have a brain beneath this wig and a heart beneath the boobs.”

The singer expressed her true thoughts on the matter saying “don’t let these false eyelashes lead you to believe that I’m as phony as I look – Because I run true and deep.”

Her humor is one of her best traits. However behind the scenes Dolly had many struggles from being booed off stage to having turmoil in both professional and romantic relationships.

Dolly never became a mother and often felt depressed.

Parton is involved in numerous charities to aid children and their own educational ventures.

She began the book-gifting program Imagination Library project, which mails free, high-quality books to children from birth up to age five, no matter their family’s income.

So when I got ready to start the program, I thought I’m going to do this for my dad and I’m going to bring him along with me to help me with that,” she said.

According to Parton, there’s been up to 125 million kids involved in the program. She says her father was the big inspiration for starting it.

So, he got to live long enough to see it really take off and start doing good, and so he loved it when the kids called me the Book Lady. He was prouder of that than saying that my daughter’s a star: ‘My daughter’s the Book Lady.’”

I’ve made sacrifices, but I think, like I said, I believe what I know I’m supposed to do,” Parton said. “I’ve made the sacrifice of time… and not having time to spend with family, and you give up family and friends, vacation, and work without end, 24/7, 365, but you got to make the sacrifice.

Twain has been an avid Swift supporter, and attended the ‘Eras’ tour last year

Shania Twain has shared new praise for Taylor Swift – see what Twain had to say below.

In a new cover profile with Haute Living, Shania Twain talks about her trouble with accepting credit for the talent she was born with: “I wouldn’t say I’m proud of anything I’ve done. Pride is not a great word for me, because I don’t think you can take credit for creative gifts if you were born with them; you can only take credit for developing them. What I would say I’m proud of is that I had the courage to take risks, that I could be so hard-working and dedicated.”

In this sense, she likens herself to Taylor Swift, who she praised for her work ethic. “That girl is working her butt off. She is living an exhausting existence, but she’d dedicated and committed to herself, to her art, and her work. It isn’t even about ambition, though I’m sure that most people would call her ambitious,” Shania Twain said.

Twain went on to explain: “She’s an extremely hard worker, and I’m sure she’s got giant goals. But it’s not all about ambition: it’s about passion and committing yourself to your passion. [Like Taylor], I was and am someone who does that, and that’s what really reaps rewards. So, I would say that I’m most proud of my perseverance, and that I didn’t waste my talents.”

This isn’t the first time that Twain – who will be performing the legends’ slot at Glastonbury this year – has shown support for Taylor Swift. In 2022, Twain congratulated Swift after the latter broke Twain’s long-standing US chart record. Twain wrote on social media at the time: “Historical records are meant to be made and then broken. The baton is meant to be passed on to new generations. Unstoppable young female country artists are [flame emoji] inspite of the hurdles.”

Twain’s opinion of Taylor Swift notable juxtapose Courtney Love‘s recent comments about the pop singer. The Hole frontwoman recently slammed Taylor Swift, saying that she is “not important” and “not interesting as an artist”.

Speaking to The Standard in an interview recently, love shared “Taylor is not important. She might be a safe space for girls, and she’s probably the Madonna of now, but she’s not interesting as an artist.”

A poor old woman decided to fly business class to get closer to her son. However, she faced rejection from passengers on board until they discovered her true identity.

Rhea felt self-conscious. The old woman had gotten on the first plane to leave the airport that morning, and she sat in a seat in business class where the well-to-do folks stayed.

As she entered the cabin, nobody spared her a glance, but when she located her seat and sat, eyes turned towards her. The reason was simple; she stood out like a sore thumb.

Where the other men and women present all wore fancy and expensive-looking clothes, Rhea wore her old, broken-in clothes — it was her best, but it looked drab compared to what the others were wearing.

The man next to her had his face completely buried in a newspaper when she sat down, so he did not quickly notice her. When he put down the issue, he looked to his side and winced at her appearance, then he signaled a flight attendant.

“What is this?” he asked, pointing to Rhea.

The flight attendant looked a bit mortified at the man’s tone, but after verifying the woman’s seat number, she faced the man and replied, “This passenger took a seat according to the ticket she paid for.”

The man looked like he would vomit at any minute because of Rhea’s presence, and before he even proceeded to talk, he unfolded a pristine handkerchief and used it to cover his nose. Then he said, “I don’t know what’s on her ticket, but I bought a seat in business class to get away from people like her, now it just feels like I’m in a cheap alley with homeless people.”

The altercation had gotten the attention of many in the cabin, and some seemed to be in support of the man. One plump woman bedecked from her head to her feet in jewelry piped up.

“If I wanted to fly with such riff-raff, I would buy an economy class ticket,” she said, and a murmur of agreement moved through the passengers.

The murmur quickly took on a life of its own and soon led to a squabble the attendant tried to quell, but the rich folks would not hear of it — the woman had to go.

“Can’t you see she doesn’t belong here?” one man said.

“Is this how low this airline has fallen? How can such a person afford the bill?” another asked.

“We want her gone and we want a formal apology for allowing us to come into contact with such filth,” the man beside Rhea said.

He and a few other passengers were on their feet and refused to sit until they got what they wanted. Rhea sat there, listening to them arguing and trampling all over her dignity.

“I’m okay, this too shall pass,” she kept repeating under her breath like a mantra.

Still, she heard how they spoke of her, and it hurt her very deeply that people could be so cruel. Before she knew it, sad tears cascaded down her slightly wrinkled cheeks.

“Perhaps I’ll just leave,” Rhea thought, then started to gather her things with shaky hands.

As she stood up to go, she stumbled, and rather than catch her as instinct should have made him, the man beside her flinched away as if to avoid getting splattered with mud.

Rhea fell to her knees and inadvertently spilled the contents of her purse. She started to collect her things with trembling hands, knowing she was the focus of everyone in the cabin.

An expensively dressed old lady who had been sleeping peacefully until the ruckus woke her got up from her seat and also went down on her knees to help Rhea.

At that, the cabin went silent, and the passengers stared dumbfounded as one of them treated Rhea like a human. The first thing the woman picked up was a passport photograph of a little boy.

“Thank you very much,” Rhea whispered as she collected it from her.

“This is my son,” she said with a teary smile, still on her knees. “He is the pilot of this plane.”

“He must have grown up to become a handsome young man,” the rich old woman said.

“How could I know? I had to give him up for adoption when he was just five because I had no means to take care of him.” As she spoke, tears fell from her eyes, and the cabin remained silent.

“I’ve been looking for him for years but I’ve not been able to find him. Recently, I found out he became a pilot so I started to go from airport to airport looking for him. Today I found him but the only way I could get close to him was by boarding this flight.”

Rhea looked up at the people around, most of whom averted their eyes shamefully, then she continued.

“I’m sorry for making you all feel uncomfortable but I just wanted to be as close to my son as possible which is why I saved up my money to get this chance. The business class is closer to him and I’ve never flown before so I thought it would make a great birthday gift for myself.”

The passengers listened to her story, and by the time she stopped talking, many were crying. Rhea got up eventually and went with the flight attendants, who were hell-bent on introducing her to her son.

“What if he doesn’t want to see me?” she asked, resisting their urging. “What if he hates me for abandoning him?” Before the flight attendant could speak, the man who had been against her sitting beside him beat her to it.

“You had no choice, I believe he will understand that,” he said before quickly diving behind his newspaper again. He was also ashamed. Rhea left with the flight attendant to finally meet her son.

After some time, a man’s voice was heard on the plane. “This is the captain speaking… there is a special person flying on this plane — my mom, and it’s her birthday today.”

Everyone applauded the old lady, and those who had ridiculed her before apologized for their mistake. When the plane landed, the pilot, whose name was Joseph, met up with his mother, and finally, after many years of estrangement, Rhea held her son again.

What did we learn from this story?

  • Choose to be kind. When the man beside Rhea started to clamor for her to leave the cabin, others joined in, and even though the woman had done nothing, they may have succeeded in making her leave. The only person who did not do what they did was another old woman. She stood up for Rhea even though she could easily have just joined the haughty passengers, and her decision changed everything.
  • Never give up. Rhea looked for her son for years but could not locate him; however, that did not stop her. She kept looking, and she was ready to do anything to meet him, including saving up her hard-earned money for an expensive business class flight. Her perseverance and sacrifices were rewarded in the end, and she was able to meet him.
